Bhamragarh Wildlife Sanctuary is located in Chandrapur district in the Vidharba region of Maharashtra covering an area of 104.38-sq-km. Majority of the area is under thick forest that is wood land, with small patches of grass lands distributed over the entire protected area. One can even find wetlands in the protected area. Notable among them are Pamalgautam and Parlkota rivers, which runs through the protected area.

One can also find a few places in this sanctuary, which have no plant community associated but act as major shelter area for various wild animals like Cliff, Tallus, Caves and Nala Beds. Best time to visit the sanctuary is between the months of February to May.

The forest in the sanctuary is moist deciduous mixed forest. The evergreen vegetation is found along the perennial 'Nalas' and rivers. The main tree species are Ain, Arjun, Behada, Bija, Bel, Shishamtendu, Hirda, Kusum, Jamun, Mango, Haldu, Kadam and bamboo. Kudgudi, Tarwad, Gokhru, Tarota, Neel & Kuda are aome of the main shrubs found over here. The common grasses are Chir, Mussam, Gawat, Khus and Kusal.

Flora and Fauna - The Bhamragarh wildlife sanctuary has got a great variety of flora and fauna. The commonly found flora in Bhamragarh wildlife sanctuary is dominantly the tropical dry deciduous forest. The major flora found in Bhamragarh wildlife sanctuary includes Salaia, Sal, Bel, Bambo, Palas, Hiwar, Bija, Khair, Tendu, Dhawda, Zizphus Helicteres, Terminenalia species, Bel, Babul, Teak, etc. The commonly found shrubs include varieties of Vitex Nigundo, Isora, Casia Auriculata, Solanium Giganteum, Lantna etc.

The fauna in Bhamragarh wildlife sanctuary is also quite remarkable. The major attraction is the tiger. The most commonly found species include Leopard, Samber, Sloth Bear, Four-horned antelope, Barking deer, Wild Dog, Wild Boar, Chinkara, Blue Bull, Hyaena, Wildbore, Bear, Jungle Fowl, Crocodile, etc.

Air: The nearest airport to Bhamragarh wildlife sanctuary is the Sonegaon Nagpur airport which is at a distance of only 370 kilometers.

Rail: The nearest railway station is the Ballarpur Railway Junction. It is located some 197 kilometers from Bhamragarh Wildlife sanctuary.

Road: The Bhamragarh Wildlife sanctuary is well connected to major cities of Maharastra such as Aheri (102 kilometers), Ballarpur (197 kilometers), and Chandrapur (212 kilometers).
