About Kane Wildlife Sanctuary   Tiger

Kane Wildlife Sanctuary, located in the district of West Siang in the north eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh in India. Kane Wildlife Sanctury Arunachal Pradesh is spread over an area of about 55 sq. km. The wildlife that can be seen here is elephant, small cats, deer etc. The vegetation is very rich with varieties of plantations. The sanctuary offers a pleasant surroudings.

 

 
Flora and Fauna in Kane Wildlife Sanctuary    

The biodiversity of Kane Wildlife Sanctuary is poorly known. The relatively large altitudinal range means that Kane has diverse habitats, including tropical evergreen forest, semi-evergreen forest and sub-tropical broadleaf hill forest. The understorey is mostly bamboo.

Only about 70 bird species have been reported from Kane, although the actual number is definitely higher. White-winged Wood Duck is likely to occur in the area as there are suitable pools within the sanctuary, and local people report the presence of Rufous-necked Hornbill. Among mammals, tiger, elephant, black bear, gaur and wild dog have been reported. There is no information on the other faunal groups in the area, although diversity is expected to be comparable with other protected areas with similar habitats in Arunachal Pradesh.

Best Time to Visit - Kane Wildlife Sanctuary    

The best time to visit the wildlife is between the months of October to April.

How to Get there

Road: The Sanctuary is connected by the Tawang – Tezpur road. There is regular bus and taxi service between Tawang / Itanagar and Tenga (Bomdila).

Rail:
Nearest Railway station is located at Silapathar (Assam). From here you can hire a bus or car to reach the sanctuary.

Air: Nearest Airport / Helipad are at Along (Arunachal) and Lilabari (Assam) about 274 km from West Siang. From Along one can easily approach the sanctuary by road.

General Info / Tips    
There are several accommodations available near the sanctuary for the tourists from all over the world. Along Circuit house, Anchal Samity Bhavan and Hotel Magsom, Yombo, Karbak are few of them located close to the sanctuary.
