Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is one of those rare ecoregions of the world that has various emergent species of plants and animals. Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is located nearby Avanigadda village in Andhra Pradesh, which is at a distance of 80 km. from Vijaywada. The Sanctuary spreads over an area of 196.81 sq. km into Krishna and Guntur districts in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It is nestled on the estuary of River Krishna and hence acquired its name from there. The Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a variety of plants like Leptadenia reticulata, Spinifex squarrosus, Spinifex littoreus, Pongamia pinnate, Palmyra, Date-palm, etc..

Flora:
The dense forest of the Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary consists plant species like Casuarina equisetifolia Pongamia gladra Calotropis gigantean Cassia auriculata Thespesia populnea Ipomaea biloba,Leptadenia reticulata, Spinifex squarrosus, Spinifex littoreus, Pongamia pinnate, Prosopis juliflora Banyan, Peepul, Margosa, Tumma , Mango, Palmyra, Date-palm, to name only a few.

Fauna:
The dense mangrove forests of the Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary provides habitats to Hyena, Jungle and Fishing Cat, Fox, Bear, Spotted Deer, Sambar, Black Buck, Cobra, Russels Viper, Water Snake, Rat Snake and Tree Snake, Garden Lizard, Wall Lizards, Land tortoise, and also a good variety of birds including Crested Serpant Eagle, Indian Roller, Wagtails, Pipits. This makes the Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary is a perfect place for bird-watching.

The Krishna Wildlife Sanctuary region observes tropical type of climate. Maximum temperature shoots upto 45 degree Celsius in summer while the minimum temperature dips down to 18 degree Celsius in winter.
